Alverne Ball is the co-writer of One Nation published by 133art. Recently, Mr. Ball received a 2014 Glyph award as a rising star for his writing on the One Nation comic book published by 133art.com. In 2009, Alverne received first place in the Union League Civic & Arts Foundation Creative Writing Competition for his graphic story “Virgin Wolf.” He has also received numerous Weisman Scholarships for his other graphic stories, R-Squared, Geddeon and Zulu.  His writing has been published in the literary magazine Annalemma, in Columbia College Chicago’s The Chronicle, online at Brokenfrontier.com, and online for the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. His short stories of suspense have appeared in the Sin anthology by Avendia Press and Criminal Class Review as well as the online magazine, the heated forest.  He has an MFA in Fiction Writing from Columbia College Chicago. 

V Ken Marion is the current series penciller for All New Soulfire published by Aspen Comics. Past series pencilling credits include Fathom: The Elite Saga from Aspen, Extermination from BOOM! Studios, and Wonderland from Zenescope Entertainment. He has also provided variant covers for Fathom: Kiani, Jirni, and Deathmatch.


Hypertext Magazine and Studio (HMS) publishes original, brave, and striking narratives of historically marginalized, emerging, and established writers online and in print. HMS empowers Chicago-area adults by teaching writing workshops that spark curiosity, empower creative expression, and promote self-advocacy.
