Warbler by Ari Wolff

Jackets of light slump over the trees.
Smelled like a new thought.
Called out from the narrow place. A
wild onion grows here.
A wired contradiction grows here.
Fields of frozen grass appear.

A dog bark covers the sun. Sounds
the puddles reflect.
Dandelion planets splatter the grass. Wild
murmurs gather.
Bits of snow or ash the pond consumes.
Nine leafless trees twist the street.

Wavered in strips of water.
Amplified by reflection.
See how the surface expands. See
how the arm swings open. Pond
designed by human want. Curved
to the shape of a fig.

Brown drowns the brushy swamp. Signals
clogged by clouds.
Sectioned out by the stands of birch. Trees
marked with pink tape.
A place for the sumac to expand. A
channel the air grows into.
